Hawai`i County Fire Department crews conducted a high angle cliff rescue early Sunday morning.
Responding to a 12:51 a.m. alarm, crews arrived near the 28-mile marker in the Laupahoehoe area to find two men in need of extraction from a cliff over the ocean.
The men reportedly climbed down a 100-foot steep embankment and utilized a rope system to scale down another 100-foot vertical cliff to pick opihi.
Rescuers used a high angle rope rescue method to reach the men. The first man was located about 50-feet down the cliff face. The second man was raised from the shoreline.
Both men were extracted safely and evaluated by medics, neither had injuries that required additional medical attention.
