Repairs to this morning’s water main break near Pāpaʻikou Gym were completed at 3:30 p.m. Water service has been restored to customers in Pāpaʻikou from Maluna Place and north along Old Māmalahoa Highway.
Customers may notice air bubbles and a milky appearance to the water as service is restored. The water is safe for consumption and crews will continue to monitor the system.
As a result of the repairs, the Department of Education reports Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana’ole Elementary and Intermediate School will reopen and resume school on Wednesday, November 14.

A water main break near Pāpaʻikou Gym is leaving the surrounding area without water on Tuesday.
The Department of Water Supply says that Pāpaʻikou customers from Maluna Place and north along Old Māmalahoa Highway (also known as Scenic Road), and all side roads including but not limited to Kaapoko Homesteads and Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole Elementary and Intermediate School will experience no water while Department of Water Supply personnel repair the water main break.
Repairs are estimated to be completed by Tuesday evening.
As a result, the Department of Education reports that Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana’ole Elementary and Intermediate School are closed until water services are restored. The duration of school closure and water outage is undetermined at this time, per County officials. Anyone with children at the school is being asked to pick up their children from school as soon as possible.
DWS will be installing a spigot for public access at the intersection of Old Māmalahoa Highway and Maluna Place.
