No Tsumani Generated by Big Island Quake

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports the earthquake that occurred at approximately 12:44 p.m. was not large enough to cause a tsunami.

Preliminary data indicates that the earthquake measuring a magnitude of 4.4 was centered in the summit region of Kilauea.

As in all earthquakes, be aware of the possibility of after shocks.
