The Hawai`i County Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision early Wednesday morning.
HFD units arrived on scene at 3:45 a.m. to find an approximately 800-foot structure fully involved in fire and a propane tank discharging.
Two occupants were able to escape from the home prior to HFD arrival.
A female suffered burns to her upper body and arms, while a second male occupant was transported for further evaluation at Hilo Medical Center.
The fire was deemed under control by 6:16 a.m. and out by 7:45 p.m.
HFD officials say that it is unknown if the fire detector in the home was functional.
HFD inspectors, along with the Hawai`i Police Department will perform a fire investigation.
Twenty firefighters responded in the incident, including two volunteer firefighters.
