The Hawai`i County Fire Department responded to a structure fire late Wednesday evening at a residence on Hoaka Road in Hilo.
Units arrived on scene at 10:17 p.m. to what was initially called in as a possible brush fire.
Fire personnel found a two story home with fire burning on both levels of the structure. The structure was apparently abandoned and had many of its windows boarded with plywood.
Firefighters from the Haihai, Kaumana and Central fire stations deployed multiple lines and brought the fire under control. The fire was deemed out by 12:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported in the incident and no one was in the residence upon arrival of fire units, according to authorities.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
