Swimmer Rescued at South Point Landing

A swimmer is distress at South Point Landing was rescued by the Hawai`i County Fire Department on Monday.

HFD crews arrived on scene at 4:26 p.m. to find a female in her 30’s hanging on to the ladder.

According to officials, a HFD personnel entered the water to assist the victim until Chopper 1 arrived for extrication.

A Peterson Buoy was used to calm and reassure the female.

Upon Chopper arrival she was lifted via Billy Pugh net.

Injuries to the female were limited to minor scrapes to her legs.
