A structure fire along Ainahua Road in Kamuela Monday morning summoned the Hawai`i County Fire Department.
Fire crews responded just after midnight on New Year’s Day to find a 700 square foot unpermitted single story dwelling fully involved in fire.
The structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire, according to officials.
Two 100 gallon propane tanks were venting upon arrival. The tanks were cooled with a hose stream before firefighters extinguished the structure fire.
Fire officials say the home was on Hawaiian Homes Land Farm Lots. The total loss on the property was not determined.
Eighteen firefighters, including four volunteer firefighters, responded in the incident.
