A three story apartment building caught fire Tuesday afternoon along Ululani Street in Hilo.
Four Hawai`i County Fire Department companies responded to the scene just after 3 p.m., where they located a one bedroom unit fully involved in the fire.
All occupants of the residential building were evacuated, with help from the Hawai`i Police Department, until the fire alarm system was restored.
The fire burned from the unit extending to common attic space and an adjacent apartment unit, according to fire officials.
The fire was extinguished with multiple handlines.
An evacuation shelter was opened by the Red Cross for displaced residents.
The scene has been turned over to HPD and the HFD fire inspector for investigation.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
