Man Dies From Injuries Sustained in Volcano House Fire

A man who was injured in a fire at his Nahelenani Street home in Volcano on September 9 has died.

The Hawai`i Police Department reports that the man has been identified as 64-year-old Kris Anderson.

Anderson was airlifted to the Straub Burn Center in critical condition. He died on September 14.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

The fire Battalion Chief determined that the fire was started by children playing with matches under the structure. The victim sustained injuries while re-entering structure to check to see if any children were still in the house.
