3.8M Earthquake Shakes Southern Portion of Hawai`i Island

A 3.8 magnitude earthquake shook the southern portion of the Big Island Tuesday afternoon.

The 3:52 p.m. quake was centered six mile north-east of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Forty-five people reported feeling the shake on the USGS “Did you Feel it?” webpage.

The earthquake was 58.9 miles south-southeast of Kailua-Kona; 85.6 mile west-southwest of Hawaiian Paradise Park; 89.2 miles southwest of Hilo; and 325.5 miles southeast of Honolulu.
