A small cabin was burned nearly to the ground by a fire Saturday night.
According to the Hawai`i County Fire Department, a 7:48 p.m. call led fire fighters to the Fern Acres subdivision, where a 20-by-20 foot shed-type cabin was found engulfed in flames. The fire was put out and wet down with “Class A” foam to prevent the fire from restarting.
HFD says that a house is also located on the property. The occupant of the cabin was not present when fire crews arrived.
Officers from the Hawai`i Police Department also responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Damage was estimated at $5,000.
