A fire Saturday evening at a home on Lehua Street in the Fern Acres subdivision caused an estimated $155,200 in damages.
Hawai`i County Fire Department personnel responded just after 6 p.m. to the scene where they found a 25-by-25 square foot two-story home with an iron roof engulfed in flames.
A single occupant of the home was found on the roadside who told officials that the fire began on the second floor while he was working on a vehicle outside.
The fire caused the structure to collapse. No public utilities were connected to the building.
HFD has the fire under control by 6:35 p.m. and it was officially out at 7:55 p.m.
There were no injuries reported in the blaze and they cause remains under investigation.
