UPDATE: Highway 19 Fully Reopens Following Brush Fire

The Hawai`i Police Department reports that both lanes of Highway 19, in the area of an earlier fire, have been reopened.

Hawai`i County Fire Department crews remain on scene. HPD requests that motorists drive with caution.

One lane of the affected area is now open. The Hawai`i Police Department is requesting that the public use caution when driving in the area.

Motorists advised to expect delays. Emergency crews remain on scene.

The Hawai`i Police Department is reporting a closure along Highway 19 in the area of the 32 mile marker, in the area north of Ookala.

According to HPD, the roadway in currently under a partial closure as a result of a brushfire.

No detour is currently available and it is unknown at this time when the highway will re-open.
