The public is advised to stay out of the waters at Puhi Bay, near the Pacific Aquaculture and Coastal Resource Center after a wastewater spill.
According to the Department of Health Clean Water Branch, a leaking pipe caused the spill from the Hilo Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Recently, fourteen joins in the vicinity of shoreline has been repaired, individually tested, and dye tested to verify that the leaks has been repaired, according to the County of Hawai`i Wastewater Division.
The discharge was discovered during a dye test of the ocean outfall.
Members of the public should stay out of the water until the signs are removed.Officials have posted warning signs and water samples are being collected.
