State DOT releases their Hawaii County road work and lane closure notices

The State of Hawaii Department Of Transportation would like to inform the public that road work has been scheduled to take place throughout the week starting March 17, 2017 to March 19, 2017 in the following areas listed below. Dates and times have also been listed below.

Please plan your travel times accordingly and use extra care when driving in road construction zones. Please follow all instructional signs posted and any instructions from law enforcement officers and State DOT officials on site.

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.



Alternating lane closures on Umauma Bridge in the vicinity of Hakalau (Route 19, Mile Marker 16) in both directions over a twenty-four hour period, seven days a week for bridge rehabilitation. Travel speed on Umauma Bridge is reduced to 20-mph, and vehicles that exceed statutory size-weight limits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis upon application of their respective oversize-overweight vehicle permits. Maximum width for any vehicle with permit passing over the bridge is 12 feet.
